Constitution of the Friends of Wakefield Chantry Chapel
adopted at a General Meeting held in Church House, South Parade, Wakefield at 6 pm on Wednesday, 28 August 1991 and amended at a General Meeting on 11 June 2003, with the amendments being accepted by the Trustees on 16 September 2003.
1. Constitution There shall be an Association called ‘The Friends of Wakefield Chantry Chapel’ hereinafter referred to as ‘The Association’.
2. Objects The objects of the Association shall be:
i) The preservation of the Chantry on the Bridge, Wakefield, for the benefit of the general public.
ii) To educate the public in the history of the Chantry on the Bridge, Wakefield
and in furtherance of these objectives but not otherwise, the Association shall have the following powers:
a) to raise funds or receive donations towards the maintenance and improvement of the building,
b) to make the existence of the Chantry more widely known by and accessible to the general public through publicity and events of various kinds,
c) to work in close conjunction with the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Wakefield, and other relevant bodies of the Church of England.
3 Membership of the Association shall be open to individuals (over the age of eighteen), societies, associations, groups, business firms, and corporate bodies on payment of an annual subscription to be determined from time to time by the Annual General Meeting.
There shall be two ex officio representatives appointed by the Diocese of Wakefield.
All members shall have the right to attend General Meetings, receive notices and literature, and vote in accordance with the procedure laid down under Article 6.
4 Management of the Association
a) The Association shall be managed by an Executive Committee consisting of its officers and seven other members to be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Two persons appointed by the Chapter of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Wakefield, shall be ex officio members of the Executive Committee.
b) The Officers of the Association shall be a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
c) The Executive Committee may from time to time appoint from among its members such sub-committees or working groups as may seem necessary or expedient and may depute to them such powers and duties as it shall determine. All sub-committees and
